I have a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight. my go to load is 120gr Sierra Spit. Imr 4064 44grs. WW 8 1/2- 120 primers 2.78 0al. I tried some heavier bullets but didn't have much luck with them, 30yrs ago 7mm was NOT THAT POPULAR AROUND HERE. I was making 7-08 brass out of 308 brass. ?? do you think the Martini action is strong enough for these pressures??

My mistake.....Forgot the caliber...It's a 7-30 Waters on Martini Cadet. And...client just informed me the powder used was 41 gr H 380...Jeez.... Before doing the build, (16 years ago) conferred with Bob Snapp...regarded by most as THE Martini Cadet Guru. He gave it thumbs up. just advised to make threads really snug since things were getting pretty thin at the chamber wall..

Some days you just can't get there from here. I do not own a 7-30 yet. The only rifle I think I will get of late is a 308 I sure miss the Mauser I had.

I have a cadet in 7x30 waters. The cadet is stronger than a 94 win. But between the lockup being at the rear of the block and small shank I keep my loads to factory specs of 38,000 cup. No problem at those levels. Extraction is a weak point with a cadet, usually extraction gets sticky long before pressures get dangerous.

Yeah...extracor leverage is just on the wrong end of a lever. Thans for the information... have to pass this on to the owner...diplomatically, of course.. Thanks to all for taking the time to post gpod information

When I was looking into building the 7-30 Waters on a cadet action I spoke with Bob Snapp. It was one of his favorites and he built a bunch of them, but he cautioned to stick strictly with published reloading data. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

In Australia they made 219 zipper and imp versions all the time on cadets. I have one that was a 219 imp, that must have been the gunsmiths own version. I was able to just clean it up by going to a 225 win, made on 30-30 cases. The lever/extraction will tell you when you are reaching pressure levels that you need to stop, long before damage is done.

I had one in 25-35 Win and won a ton of turkeys and hams at some Wyoming turkey shoots, and those boys could shoot, sold it to another turkey shooter who always shot second to me,that solved his problem, and ended my reign!! but with a full pocket of hard cash!
