Craig,

At 200 yds or meters, the difference in trajectory on a round nose is no real loss in real world terms hunting deer.

My preference is actually at 300 Savage speeds, which is in the 2200 to 2400 fps range. You will notice an increase in accuracy in most rifles and also notice a Decrease in recoil.

Even a round nose seems to open up better at the velocities under 2500 fps. Spitzers offer more range, but a round nose or semi pointed has always offered better on game performance for me.

IMR 4895 or 4064 in the 42 grains area will give you about 2400 fps. Same with RL 15, also a top performer in accuracy in my 30/06s. 44 grains of H 380 also works very well in an 06 size case, whether in a 30/06 or 270 in my experience.

Good luck and cheers & good shooting

Roger,

I saw that on a bumper sticker the other day, on some beatup Pickup, and I thought it was humorous enough to post.

NO disrespect was meant to anyone. My personal apologies to YOU.

I am deleting it now, as it has offended a good friend.

So your saying they wouldn't lead a communistic dictatorship given the chance. Or are you actually trying the sujest that the Nazi party (National Socialist Party) was really closer to the conservative movement.
Government control of all major businesses, complete gun control, enforced political correctness.
What are you trying to say.

About 52 to 55 grs. of H414 will work fine...60 grs of H4831 or 58 grs. of IMR-4831 should work fine for you...As usual start a couple of grains low and work up...

You could slow the bullets down a but for the kind of hunting you describe, but I doubt it makes much difference..find the one thats the most accurate and stick with that one...

I'll tell you what I'm saying.

There is part of this forum just for political junk and if some whose maturation level is such that they are easily influenced by ANY party's Propoganda, have at it in that alloted section.

This part of the forum is devoted to enlightenment, understanding, and sharing of expertice in reloading and the IDEA of prostituting it based on immature emotional miss directed ferver is malignant. roger
