I have bunch of CCI shotshell primers intended for reloading battery cups. They look like a percussion cap on steriods. They are too powerfull to use as percussion caps. Metal flies with too much force. I doubt I will ever be intersted in reloading battery cups. Any use use for these things. I have several thousand.

Geez! Those must be nearly as old as I am. I remember battery cups being available to "reload" shotshell primers with, but I don't think I ever saw any, and I started reloading in 1965. Nor can I recall ever seeing a tool with which to punch out the old cup and replace it with a new one, though they were bound to exist.

As far as I know, the only use for them (outside of terroristic activities) would be to use them as intended -- to reactivate used shotshell primers. Talk about a low return for the time spent . . . .

Wonder if they were for 157's ("Remington" size) or 209's ("Winchester" size), or if there was a difference in the cap itself between these two primers. By the way, I doubt if even half the shotshell loaders on this forum ever knew that there was a "Remington" and a "Winchester" size primer! Have about 300 157's myself, if anyone is interested. I have a large supply of Rem 57*, CCI 157's and Alcan 57 primers. Maybe some day I'll find a use for them, but for now they are aging like fine wine.
