I've come into a modest quantity of both and I'm just wondering about those driving bands. Are you guys belling the case mouths just a tad with the expander?

I'll try to load a few up this weekend, but I don't know when I'll get a chance to shoot them with my schedule being what it is.

Don't know about NF, but the GS bases are semi-boat tailed. Almost torpedo/submarine shaped. No belling required.

Thanks, Martindog, but I meant what about the bands? I was just curious if I needed to bell the cases just a hair so as not to damage the bands while seating.

I've had no problems just seating them like a regular bullet.

Russell -- The North Fork bullets are grooved, not banded. They do not require anymore prep than any other bullet. I always trim the inside and outside of each case, particularly new unprimed brass. The North Fork bullets also seat easier than any other bullets I load. Good shooting.

Thanks, Pat. Yes, with the North Forks, they're not actually driving bands... I just wasn't sure what to call them. "Ridges" came to mind, but I didn't think that would be right. Yup, I'll go with grooves.

Both brands, once in hand, sure are unique and interesting to ponder. Not your usual Game King, certainly.

When we trim our cases, we use the deburring tool and put a slight chamfer on the inside of the neck. On my 220 Swift it made the difference between less than an inch at 100 and half inch on demand at 100 every time. I guess that holds true for most bullets though.

The question is probably already answered but on my loadings of the gs custom no special prep was required. The "feel" during seating is like any
bullet.

BUT I MIGHT ADD.........if you ever get the chance to buy/try the k&S low angle chamferer you will use it alot. The feel of a bullet entering the case mouth is absolutely smooth.

What caliber are you reloading for? I will be reloading both (.380gr GS FN & .370gr NF) for .416 RM, and have similar questions. Taking Ray A's advice, I'm going to try 78grs of RL-15. Mike Brady of NF recommended no less than 2400fps. Wondering what you are using...
