Does anyone have any loads for the Barnes TSX's and the 7 RUM? I am interested in loads from 120 gr up to the 160 gr. Right now I shoot a load w/150 gr partition. Good load. just would like to beat it with the 150 gr tsx bt. I have heard that w/ barnes you can drop weight and still get the penetration and weight retention on game (deer, elk). That's why I am interested in weights down to the 120. I don't have a Barnes manual right now. Do they list data for the 7 rum? any input appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Theres data for the 130-140 gr X here. Hodgdons
You may be able to go a gr or two higher with the TSX. My 7 RUM liked Retumbo and H1000.

Thanks, I visited the Barnes website and read their advice on using x data. I guess I'll just start working up a load from the hodgdon data. I have looked at hodgdon before and the x data didn't register w/me as I was looking for partition data and I ended up using alliant powder. I have some retumbo that my 300 ultra wasn't fond of w/200 accubonds. Just for giggles; what kind of velocity do you get with the TSX? I shoot a stock LSS 700 w/trigger job. Thanks again!

The barnes reloading manual #3 lists the X-bullets when you buy the TSX's they say you can use a few grains more powder than listed with the X-bullets. I did find with my Rem 300 Win Mag that the same amount I used with Nos Balistic Tips was too hot. I used the starting charge and stopped there. Also rember the 30 to 70 thousands jump I tried it just on the lands and the groups were 1.5 inches at 100 yards but using the 30 thousands jump it shrunk to .75 at 100 yards. And at 50 thousands jump it went back to 1.5 inches considering the best I could get with Nosler Partition bullets was 4.5 inches at 100 yards I am not complaining.

Well, I'll try the 140 gr tsx's first. I have rl22,25, and retumbo to try for powders. I think everything else on my shelf is too fast. H4831 is the next slowest I have. I am a little concerned that I have so much throat in this rifle. I'm not sure I can even get to 70 thou jump. I'll probably end up just setting OAL to max magazine length and trying it just like all other bullets for the RUM. I'll have to measure again just to be sure but I think that lands are a mile away just like my 300 RUM. Thanks Remington! So far it hasn't been too much of an issue in aquiring hunting accuracy though.

Thanks, I just received an e-mail from Barnes with the exact same data. Time to get started on this. I'm interested what I'll get with this 140 tsx with the 26" bbl RUM.
