I used some TemilqG temp indication liquid to anneal a batch of brass yesterday. Very easy to use. I've never used a stick, but I've heard they can be a pain. Just brush a little of this liquid on the shoulder and it dries almost instantly to a bright yellow color. As it reaches the indicated temperature, it turns dull orange and then black fairly quickly.
