Howdy. Okay, I have finally gotten my 6.5x57mm Mauser rifle and now I am looking for anyone with experience with this round, shooting, reloading, etc.. Anyone out there with such info? Please take a shot. I have used the 6.5x54,.260 Remington, 6.5x55, and 6.5-06, so I am familiar with what the 6.5mm bullets can do.

6.5 x 55 load data or 260 Rem load data ought to work fine.

Just work up, but you know that.

Cheers and happy holidays

Vihtavuohri has good data for this cartridge on their homepage, I use N140 powder and Nosler bullets in 120/125 grain BT/PT with good results.

The first rifle I ever built, which eventually ended up a 6.5 Gibbs, started out as a 6.5X57. It had a Schultz & Larsen barrel, and a Mod. 98 Mauser action. I used 6.5X55 loading data in it. Started at the least powerful load and worked up. IMR 4350 and H4831 both worked well with the 140-grain Sierra and 125-grain Nosler Partition in this round. Nice cartridge, very much the same as the 6.5X55.

The Hornady manual has data. It'll do better than the 6.5 x 55 (but not much).

Sierra2,

The 6.5's are coming out of the woodwork! Try this thread before the software "upgrade". I haven't had a lot of time to really dig into loads for this rifle, but this is what I have found thus far.
