I had a chance to shoot some data 85 in my K-31 this afternoon. Information as follows: 5 X fired Norma cases, Winchester large rifle primers, F/L in a redding die to base dimension of .4948, with headspace set @ .003 minus from my chamber. 168 Privi hpbt bulk from Grafs. Bullet seated to 3.308 using the Sinclair comparator @ 2.995 cartridge oal. I shot five 3-shot groups starting at 48 grains through 52 grains @ 100 yards off sandbags using a Springfield armory 6 X scope. Not quite hot barrel all the way starting from 75*. The groups were 1.034, 2.212 (vertical), .87, 1.06, and 2.01 (diagonal). Windy, I didn't pay too much attention to that. The first shot at 48 grains sealed the neck and likewise all remaining shots. My standard load using all the same except IMR 4064 expands the base to .4968. These Data 85 loads expanded the bases to .4965, .4965, .4965, .4968, and .4968 respectively. Primers still with a bit of rounded corner through 50 grains. I'll be going back to revisit + or - 50 grains and getting serious with a chrono . I don't know about this new gun yet, but my old one shoots the IMR combination into .875" consistently. Oh, yes, my bullets are tumble lubed lightly with Lee Sizing die lube. The case will hold 63 grains of this powder to the bottom of the shoulder slope.

Shot five 5-shot groups , same case, bullet, primer, loading info as above except the powder charges ran from 49.6 to 50.4 by .2 grains. 50 grains won again with slightly less than an inch nice round group. I'll go to 200/300 yards next, then change seating depth a bit + % - as I chrono.

Roll EyesSherlock, did you happen to notice that the dp85 resembles the 4831s more than the 4350s in burning rate? What we seem to be looking at ,when 4831 is used in some cartridges we are unable to get enough of it into the case. This dp85 allows use to get almost 10% ( reference 22-250)more of it into the case and the pressures don't look to be too high. claproger

Possibly so. I'll set my opinion in concrete when I add in the chrono pretty soon.
