Clean Lube from Turned Necks

I turned the necks on about 250 cases. I was told that acetone was a good way to clean the lube from the necks. Since I got lube on the inside and outside, I dipped a few cases in acetone and used a Q-tip on the inside of the neck. This took care of the lube, but is a nasty way of cleaning in my opinion. I am not sure if it's harmful to the brass. Any comments on this method? Any other cleaning suggestions would be appreciated.

Just use 99% isopropyl alcohol.
I would not use acetone because it is more of a fire hazard than the alcohol.

While the case is still spinning on my neck-turning motor, I use a folded pipe-cleaner dipped in naptha........done.

Hope this helps.

Why not toss 'em into a tumbler for a while. I lube the inside of my case necks and all I've ever done to clean out the lube inside the neck was dump them in the tumbler.

Aim for the exit hole

Need to do that. Might be an anniversary gift for me this year.

Thanks guys. All great responses. I.S. what cleaning agent do you use with the sonic cleaner? I was thinking about getting one of those.

Yep! I love mine. I tried cleaning about 75 (I'd guess) .223 cases in a tin can. The primers were still in them. You would not believe the amount of carbon crap that came out in the solution. I saved it for research purposes. Next, I'll punch the primers on a fresh batch of dirties and see how well the insides and primer pockets clean out.

I have a thread about Lemi-Shine somewhere in these pages. Read that. You should get enough info to start dreaming up your own witch's brew.
