Joe, What bullet you planning to use? My data shows only 100gr and 110gr bullets. 40 for the 110 and 38 for the 100.m max loads. spire points Dave

Nosler lists 3 loads for their 125 grain Ballistic Tip and they indicate it was their most accurate powder tested. I just wonder if anyone else has used this load and what were their results. Their starting load is 36 grains for 2676fps and their max load is 40 grains for 3021fps. joe

RL-7 is very close to IMR-4198 in speed, and the .300 Savage case has as much capacity as a heavy .308 military case. Would you choose IMR-4198 as an optimal powder in the .308? Of course not. That's not to say that RL-7 won't provide reasonably decent velocities with light-for-caliber bullets in the .300 Savage, just that a slower powder will provide better velocities with a fuller case, which usually results in more uniform velocities and accuracy.
