I'm not sure how it works at Sierra but at Hornady (just down the road a ways) they sell "seconds" to "walk-ins" and the price is higher than I can buy the regular production bullets from most distributors. They do however "dump" them occasionally to Lock,Stock,Barrel as "blems" and one can buy them from LSB. I've never heard of Sierra seconds but would assume they have some. I believe that Midway just sold off some Sierra "seconds". They had advertised a special on Sierra 130 gr spitzer .270 bullets for just $8.49 for a box of 100, so I ordered 2 boxes. When the package came, I opened it, expecting to see the usual green plastic (I remember when they were cardboard) boxes filled with nice shiny Sierra bullets. Instead there were two white midway cardboard boxes each of which contained a ziploc plastic bag with 100 dull tarnished jacketed spitzer bullets that I assume were Sierra seconds. (The midway label on the white box said they were .277 Sierra 130 gr) While they haven't grouped nearly as well as my Nosler seconds, they were even cheaper and work okay with mild loads of Reloder 19 in my .270WSM. They will do for practice, I guess. Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

They must send most to Australia, there are heaps of them on sale here, good and cheap. Except for one I keep on show, which has the cannellure way down near the base. John L.

Nate, they are actually in Sedalia MO. It is about 90 miles from my house. They sell the seconds from their plant and have them in 55 gallon drums. You don't know what is available until you go to look. They sell them by the pound and they are very cheap. The lady that bags them for you will admit that to her 2-3 pounds is about right for the price of one, unless it is something harder to find like 210 .41 bullets. Last time I was there she bagged me up 6# of 6.5mm 120 match bullets for the price of 1#. In all I came home with 30# for the price of 6#. Great deal. The blems depend on the bullets. With gamekings it is normally that the tip lead was not completely cut off, or slightly smashed. I can not find any reason for the match bullet blems yet. I think they are just overruns because I have weighed and shot hundreds without an accuracy issue. The pistol bullets may have the cannulure in the wrong place, or it may be missing. Give them a call and see if they sell them over the phone. I don't know. Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson
