I was looking for some loading information with IMR4350 in my 300WSM. The bullets I do not have charges for are the 165 & 168 grain bullets produced by Nosler and Hornady. I am not exactly sure what the starting load and the max loads are for these bullets and then I can find the best load for my gun

IMR reloaders guide (PDF I downloaded a year or so ago) says 65.5gr IMR4350 (3080 fps, 62kPSI) is max for 165 Nosler Partition.

Generally, if you are careful, it is accepted that you can interchange IMR4350 and H4350. Hodgdon says:

165 GR. NOS PART (Starting Loads)

DIA. .308

COL: 2.860"
H4350 61.0 2898 54,800 PSI

165 GR. NOS PART (Maximum Loads)

DIA. .308

COL: 2.860"
H4350 65.5 3047 63,600 PSI

I've had decent luck with 4350 and 180 grainers, but at 165/8 Varget was more accurate. 4350 was second, so no slouch there...

Have fun!

MThunter,

I have a load that shoots in the 3s from my savage. Don't have chrono info yet.

168 gr nosler
BR-2 primers
Norma brass
62.5 gr IMR-4350

The ladder test went to 64 gr with no pressure signs and is well under max.

I am using 66 grains of IMR 4350 behind a 165 grain Hornady InterLock SST in Win brass with Win Magnum Rifle primer. It gives about 3000 ft/sec at the muzzle and is very accurate. My 300 WSM will only shoot boattail bullets with any decent results. I have a Tikka T3 Lite sighted in 3" high at 100 yds and neck shot a whitetail doe at about 300 in the neck with no holdover, the rest her body was behind corn stalks.
