Upon chamber casting my new 1880's vintage German Double rifle the caliber indicates this caliber. 11.43x59R Does anyone here have any experience with this caliber or reloading components for it? I haven't been able to locate any cases and am concidering making them from 32 gauge brass shot shells. Any other suggestions?

Merry Christmas

Now that's a bizarre chambering for a sporting double rifle for sure. Hoyem says in vol 2 "This appears to be based on the 11mm Egyptian Remington cartridge case, necked up to accept the larger diameter bullet." And yet he shows the base diameter of the Romanian as .562" and the Egyptian at .580".

What are the dimensions from your cast?
