I got the new Barnes manual and it has a lot of info about the coated bullets in it.
The velocities they list for the coated bullets are extremely impressive, for example out of a 7mm Rem Mag they have a published velocity in excess of 3300 fps.
I will load some up next week to see myself, but I was wondering:

Has anyone chronographed the XLC bullets and noticed this type of increased velocity?

Yes, most notable, off the top of my head was in a SAKO 7-08. With their 140 grain moly, and Varget, I got over 2800 and change. Best accuracy was at 2790 from 43 grains of Varget.

Prior to that, with non moly bullets, I was in the lower 2700s, to get to 2750-2770 I began seeing pressure signs on the brass.

Watch out--from what I heard the loads in the book are currrent but, the velocity listed is wrong--I heard the velocity is swapped with the 7 stw. I'll bet barnes is real happy with the printer of the manual??

Don, something does seem to be a wry.

I checked the published data and the velcoties listed for the smae bullets in teh rem and stw are similar but not the same. I sent Barnes an email for clarification.

Thanks
