montesQuestion about neck sizing
Hello there. I normally only neck size my cartridges in .338 Lapua, i only fire fire ten in one rifle and so far i have not experienced andy resistance while chambering the only neck sized rounds. A guy at the range told me that neck sizing is only recommended for caliber .30 and below. Does anyone have some useful information about this topic. Is it hurtful for the rifle to use neck sized only cartridges?
If the rounds feed properly into and out of the chamber, there's no reason to worry.
And I really, don't see any reason why anything above .30 cal. should not be necksized only?????

montesI can not see any reason either, but the guy referred to his reloading manual (which name he could not remember) as hes info source.
I cannot recall how many reloading manuals I have, not to mention I have read. In none of those is there any mention of this.

stillbeemanWhat is the logic behind that thought?

swheelerI neck size 8mm, 35 and 45 cal bottleneck rifle cartridges, they work fine with no problems. After firing enough full power loads I may have to FL resize to get the case to chamber freely, then it's back to neck sizing only. I have never read this 30 cal or below limit on NSizing, sounds like BS to me.
