I've tried 4227 as a reduced charge powder on some rounds like 223 and 30-06 with the old data books IMR used to put out and it seemed to work OK thought I never shot any for groups. Has anyone else used IMR4227 for reduced jacketed loads in medium capacity rounds? I use it for target loads in my 45-70 and like haveing many uses for the one powder.

I (and a couple of my friends) use H4227 for reduced loads in anything from 243 to 30-06. In most rifles it gives 1 MOA groups when loaded with relatively light bullets. Even in my 338Win I use it for practice loads with a 200 grain bullet. I think that H4227 is pretty similar to IMR4227. I developed the 338 load with info I found on the IMR-website. You could have a look there.
