Hi Guys

Just got a box of 168gn SMK's and wondered if anyone had any favourite accuracy receipes out there for R15.
Normally I am loading 150 gn Hornady Interbonds with for hunting with .4" groups at 110yds.

regards

Mark

Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

I don't have load data for R-15, but I get excellent results with 44 gr IMR-4064. Varget is also excellent with the 168's. 46 gr is max if I recall correctly.

My favorite accuracy load is 43.2 grains of IMR 4064 with this bullet in Lapua brass and primed with a F 210 match at 2.820 overall length. What you may well want to try is using your R15 a very suitable powder as well, go for about 2550 ft/sec's of velocity and see how your groups are. I do believe you will be pleased. I get (when I am doing the right things) consistant and repeatable .35 MOA with my rifle and load.

Start with @42 grains of RL 15 and work up.
Check several reloading books as there is a wide variation in what is a max load of RL 15.
I have seen it as low as 44 grains and as high as 47.

I will say that several PALMA shooters I know used RL15 for their 155 gr MK loads.

I guess I'm diferent. I tried a powder named XMR 4064 which gave excellent result with my CZ Varmint using 168 grain Nosler or Sierra bullets.

Most of the time I get less that 1 inch at 200 yards.

Don't use R15, but 42-44 grains IMR 4064 and 168 - 175 grain Sierra MatchKings have proved to be "ol' reliable" for accuracy for my 2 Rem 700 VS's, and 2 40x's. Groups ran well under 0.5 moa. My Rem 40 XC shoots scary bug hole groups with 43/4064 and the 168 grain Sierra MK.

42/4064+ 168 Sierra MK was also a 1.25 MOA load in my M1A (using iron sights).

WOW edmac, that load is alittle over book Eeker, I would hesitate to put that out w/o the usual disclaimers. I maxed out @ 43grLR15 w/ accuracy in the 0.4moa range. For pure accuracy loads, hard to beat IM4895.
