I am having trouble finding the Hornady 225 gr to duplicate the factory loads I bought. Do any of you guys have any pet loads? In any bullet! TIA, Be Well, Packy.

the hornady 225 spbt is out of production, dang it - these are great NA/Plains game bullets, but would be a TERRIBLE choice for dangerous game - they open up like popcorn

Is it Speer that makes a 230gr? I used that bullet in my 376 for whitetail and of course is worked very well. I can’t even guess what the powder was as it was 15 years ago.

Just looked and it was the 235gr Speer. Lighter recoil and pretty accurate.

I have a couple of boxes of the 235 gr Speer. I didn't see the Hornady 225 gr or I would have ordered them. Be Well, Packy. Added; I have 5 boxes of the Factory 225 gr Hornadys but wanted bullets to match the factory loads for practice. I have the brass and dies and Varget.

I had hope that this cartridge would catch on; unfortunately it is now dead as a post.
But data is easy to find if you search using one of those things like googly or whatever they call it.

Pierre van der Walt's book African Dangerous Game Cartridges. I found the data I need and charts of practical information. He has data for all continents with Mulwex, Hodgdon, Vectan, and a few others. I arrived at a load of Varget, settled down in the case by touching the powder filled case with the rim against a running case tumbler. It was otherwise too full to seat the 235 gr Speer bullet. I decided to run the bullets in my Corbin cannelure machine to get more grip on the bullet in the case mouth. I will dispense with this next time and see if a few cases are OK after being in the magazine and firing only a round replaced in the chamber. Thanks for all the information.
