I recently built a .22-250 on a Mauser action , well to say the least I have had sh#$t from day one after the rifle was assembled by the Smith . Now after firing factory rounds through my rifle they chamber perfectly . Until I want to reload the brass , I have to set the FL die to touch the ram to get those bloody things to chamber with ease, this of course puts tiny dents in the shoulder of the case. I thought it might be a faulty die set , and got some once fired brass off a friend . After sizing them normally , they chambered with ease , and then after the first shot trough my own rifle , the same thing happened , so it is not the reloading die at all.

Would you say this is a headspace problem , I have micked the cases , and those fired through my rifle has more case head expansion , sorry dont have exact measurements with me.

Give us the fired and also the sized case dimension at the expansion ring (the largest diameter just ahead of the rim) Also mike it and turn it and mike it again. Is it round?.

Did you ask the smith if he used a headpace gage?

Your sizing die may not be reducing the head diameter enough for your chamber. Contact who made the die. RCBS for one will exchange the die for one that will size the case enough if the headspace is in tolerance.

Whoa, Nellie! Something doesn't quite add up right. There is no reason I can think of to get dimples in the shoulder when f/l resizing, except two. Your vent hole in the die is plugged, or your are using too much lube.

As far as hard chambering -- in my experience, a partial f/l resize makes for harder chambering. However, fired cases should chamber freely. If they don't, something isn't right with either the load (too hot), or the chamber (out of round, perhaps). Headspace doesn't come to mind, though. FWIW, Dutch.

Die suggestion.Before I resize,I flush my dies out with carborator cleaner,and run a clean patch in it.Good habit,to get into.Lube build up,can put little dents in the shoulders,

I wish those who ask questions would keep us up to date. I want to know if the fired cases are round and what the actual dimensions are.

It might also be that the headspace in the die or chamber is off but it's most likely the die is not reducing the web enough.
