Today I shot some 180 Sierra round noses with IMR4350.
Looks like this rifle likes these.

Got a couple more recipes to try glad these come in boxes of 100.

no they are all 3 shot groups all one grain powder charge apart 53,54,55 grains.

Next groups will be 55.5 and 56. If they don't do near what 53 grains did (the target at the right 2595 FPS btw). Then I'll just load some up at 53. Its my sons rifle and his eyes gloss over when I talk velocities cause he does not care how fast they go he just wants to know if they will kill elk.

My first shot did not hit the paper. The first group my aim point was at the white circle. The other was aiming higher on the paper. The last group on the right was using the tip of the duplex post on that dot.

Amen! It is the "when all else fails" .30-06 default combination. If it doesn't work - after playing with seating depth - you have a problem.

More likely you need a new barrel.

OTOH, have seen the occasional '06 that would not shoot 165s, and many that would not shoot 150s.

These are some 200 grain Barnes originals that came in a handwritten labeled box.

Shot some more today. I was using the littlest ones car seat for a rest and it was slippery as heck. I did not think it would matter since it didn't slide until the shot but I think it mattered a lot.

When my son got done with the fore end rifle rest I used it to shoot a couple more. These are with 180 Sierra round nose and IMR 4350. I only had 2 more of each.
