I tried to help someone find 300 H&H brass and discovered a website that had it.....but I visited the guy in Minneapolis today and he didn't have it as his website said.....(Jonboy at GunStop)

Further it appears as though this commodity has totally dried up. He told me that he couldn't get it any more and it appears to be absent from a lot of shelves.

I can only assume that loaded ammo is still available but for those of you considering buying a used 300 H&H this might serve as something to be concerned about. Further for those of you looking to rebarrel a gun to this cartridge .....same thing.

But for those that already own one....be forewarned.....

I have about 200 brass and am not specially concerned but I like to hunt with virgin brass and don't have any of that.

Just a friendly note to 300 H&H fans out there.

There is also speculation that the same will be the case for the .375 H&H.....but I truly find this difficult to believe.

This question has come up a few times over the last few months. 300 H&H has gotten pretty scarce. Winchester and Federal are only doing occasional runs of it these days, so we're left to form it out of other stuff like 375 etc.

Winchester will be making a run late spring or early summer. I will keep you posted on when they have it in stock.

Vapor,

Were you able to get 300 H&H brass through TnT? I was Cabelas in MI this afternoon and they had none. In fact there is none in any Cabela's inventory - not one case in the entire company. Kind of frightening.

In an amusing juxtaposition, we'll have to form .300 H&H from .300 Weatherby now. Red Face)

Just a thought ...

Good hunting,

many assume that the demand has diminished over the years and the product is drying up....in fact I suspect the opposite is true....that demand is outstripping the supply and the suppliers haven't realized it yet.

I seriously doubt that this cartridge is becoming obsolete.

I called another source this afternoon (Huntington's). They are also out of it. The fellow told me that Federal has stopped making it and that Winchester is only making one run of it - sometime in May.

I suppose that we could all call Winchester and voice our demand for the product. It can't hurt. In the mean time I guess I'll have to go out and buy some factory ammo and make my own casings.

Had some new and 1x fired WW .300 H&H brass for sale in the adds for what I thought was a reasonable price considering it's limited availability. Had a guy, Mighty Joe, PM me saying he can get it for $47.00 + shipping per 100 cases. I say any interested parties should contact him and see what comes of it.....

FWIW, I've been watching .300 H&H brass on Ebay and it's been bringing between $50.00 and $60.00 per 50.

I have a partial box of loaded factory ammo (16 rds.) that an aquaintance gave to me. It is Remington Kleenbore with 180 Gr. Core Lokt bullets. I don't have an H&H so if anybody wants it how does $25 shipped sound? If that's too much let me know. Someone that can use this stuff should have it. E-mail me at bill8mm@msn.com

I guess I should count myself lucky. I just picked up 200 new off the shelf. I thought it was pricey to "just have some" but I guess not.

I am sure the shortage of metals going to China and also being diverted for the middle east is have an influence as well.
