Ken Waters in Pet Loads mentioned that Win748 would probably be a good powder for the 6.5 MS but didn't have any data. I am starting to load for the round and have a lot of 748 and was wondering if any of you have any good working loads. I would use the 129g bullet primarily. Plateau Hunter

I have reloaded the 6.5x54mm for over 25 years and never used WW748 powder. I have used Norma N203 and N204 almost exclusively because I have the old Norma factory load data, and it does work!!! Loading 139-140 grain and 156-160 grain bullets. Cartridges of the World lists loads using IMR 3031, 4895, 4350, and 4064.

I've always used IMR-4350 with bullet sof 129 grains and up and IMR-3031 with bullets of 120 grains and down.

Never even tried W-748.

Thanks for the replies. I reloaded a few rounds with some IMR 4064 using new brass and a .260 seating die. The little rifle seemed to shoot well. I will get some dies so that I can start working up loads. A delightful rifle and cartridge. Plateau Hunter
