Well I just picked up a 629 S&W 4" and need to get some load data. I picked up 1lb of red dot for target loads and some 240gr hard cast bullets. Anyone know good loads with red dot powder and bullet? Also what hunting loads would you recommend and what powder, (I keep seeing 2400 and H110 come up)? I will probably be using the same Elmer K bullet design at 240gr. Thanks

I've been using 6.5g of Red Dot with Lyman's 240g LSWC. I cast using wheel weights and size to .430" on an old Lyman 450. They make for a good and accurate practice round out of my old Black Hawk.

I recommend a reloading manual, or several of them, for load ideas. I use Unique for light loads and 2400 for heavy ones. H110 is good too if you like flame at the muzzle. W296 is the same thing as H110.

I have always used 2400, agree it is dirtier than the ball powders, but if it was good enough for Elmer, its good enough for me.
