Steffen,
The SST is a plastic tipped cup and core design. They are also suppose to have the interlock ring to help prevent seperation. The Interbond is their plastic tipped bonded design. Hope this helps.

Good post.....and the SST is built similarly to the B'Tip from nosler........the darn things actually work quite well for me and I use them a lot for deer.

I used the 180 gr SST in a 300 Mag for Plains Game last year and it worked just fine, including the largest Water Buck I have ever taken.

In a .257 Bob, the 117 SST is absolutely explosive on deer.

129 grain SSTs in my 6.5x55 shoot well and have exited every critter I've shot, from little piggies to the biggest-bodied mule deer I've ever seen. I'm very happy with them.

Depends on where you hit the deer. Through the chest is fine if you don't mind a bloody mess. The exit wounds on the Deer I've shot have "guaranteed" blood trails...that is, if the deer actually ran anywhere.

I switched over to SGK's last year because I wanted less meat damage...

Robert

I have tried both the SST and the IB in 130 grain 270. The SST does not exit - even on a small whitetail, but the IB always goes through.

The SST does not exit

This has been my experience with the .30 caliber 150 grainers as well.

However they mushroom nicely and are found on the farside hide.

I prefer the exit hole for trailing if required.....but the bullet performs quite nicely and does not "blow up"....there's something to be said for that.
