Any loads, opinions, hunting stories, or just general feedback welcomed on this cartridge. I am having one chambered now and hope to push the 140BT's at around 3150.

You can expect about a 100 fps increase over the standard 280 with 140 gr bullets. With heavier bullets the increase will be greater.

how close to 7 rem mag velocities in same barrel lenght? I have been interested in this chambering for a while as well, also does it feed well out of the mag? I'm considering a 700 rem DM as the platform to bulid on.

I use 63--64g of Norma MRP behind 139 and 140g bullets in my 24" barrel for velocities in excess of 3300 fps. Every barrel is different and some might not shoot this load. MRP is very similar to Reloader 22; I believe it is made at the same factory. I have a wildcat 7MM Mashburn Magnum (which
is a larger case than the 7MM Rem mag) that will not chronograph any faster with 140g bullets. The 280 Ackley is one fine cartridge.

With the lighter bullets the 280AI and the 7 mag are pretty close especially in a 24" barrel. The mag, however, comes into its own with heavier bullets and/or a 26" barrel.

It should feed fine thru the 700 action.
