I've ended up with a tub of Retumbo, as it was the only powder suitable for the 7mmRemMag I could get locally. (Actually, I got a good deal as one of the girls in the office at that shop had ordered 5 cases not 5lbs, and they were eager to shift it!)

However, I'm struggling to find much in the way of load data, any suggestions? Does this powder offer any advantages in this calibre? Most references to it seem to be with respect to more powerful calibres.

count your blessings. you have one of the better powders for overall velocity in the 160 and up class bullet weights in 7 rem mag.

It is the preferred choice for many long range hunters.

168 Grain Berger VLD, RETUMBO
66.0 2839
70.4 3022

Also, check out Steves Pages:

just click on the various bullet weights and look for Retumbo.

Thanks guys...I'm sure that data wasn't on the Hodgdon pages when I looked! coffee

If it turns out good I'll have to head back and try and get a deal on a few tubs, as he's got so much of it in!

I shoot Retumbo in my 7 RM. I get excellent groups from it with 160-175 gr bullets. My 175 gr load chrono's 2935 FPS without any pressure signs. I could probably get 3000 FPS but it shoots well and is enough for me.Follow the above loads and work up slowly. Good luck
