Just back form Zim with the 338-06 and the 210 TTSX. Six one shot kills and complete pass thru except for the sable. Found on off side skin in perfect mushroom and 96% retention. Load for this bullet in my pre 64 bored to 338-06 is 51 gr of RL 15 seated to 3.39 which is .185 off the lands in this rifle.

As usual start low and work up while this load shows no pressure signs in this rifle and is below most max book loads. Hope this helps.

Thank you! Congrats on your hunt, I leave for Namibia in 53 days.

You even hit the powder I would like to use.

With the 210gr, RL15 works great, been my go to for years w/ the 338-06. However, do not over look powders a bit slower. Recently I have switched to H4350 for slightly comperssed loads & accuracy is better in my rifle, still getting 2700fps+. Your rifle will tell you what OAL, but the Barnes seem to shoot better well off the lands.

Fredj is confirmed on the H4350 as well. Works great in this rifle with heavy for caliber bullets up to 250 gr a frame.

Try Ramshot Big Game with a 210 TSX. It has worked well in a couple of mine and velocity is right at 2800 fps in a 24 in. barrel. As most are finding out, a .338 caliber is a big game stomper, just plain reliable.

Sactoller,

Chalk up another vote for RL-15...I use 52 grs in both the 210 TTSx and 225 TSX...very accurate..col of 3.39.

I use Rl-19 for 250 gr bullets...also very accurate..slightly compressed loads.

Good luck with your hunt..looking forward to a report!

Cheers

For fireforming new 338-06 brass I used H414 @ 58.5gr (medium/hot load) with 225gr TTSX's in my 338-06AI - shot very accurately. Book max I think was 60gr.

.338-06 loads for Barnes...

I work up from a starting load of 8% reduction for cup/core bullets and it's worked well for me.

Wow, that's a pricey fireforming load.

I also used 225gr Accubonds also. Used both bullets for barrel break-in and fireform brass. At least the TTSX's cost the same as the TSX's but alot less than the MRX's.

I would probably try fireforming w/o bullets to save bbl wear. I bought 500 SPeer 200grSP for deer hunting & plinking. Quite a bit cheaper than what you are using & quite accurate.
