I wanted to know if any one knows the pressure #'s for 338-06 A Square ammo and if it would be safe to fire in a mauser 98 . I understand that the case is a standard 06 necked up. they are expensive to buy and want to reload some. Is there a big difference between these and the springfield 338-06.

A-Square simply made the 338-06 a SAMMI standard, releiving it of it's former "wildcat only" status.
IOW they are the same cartridge.

Without looking at my referances, the pressure rating is in the 30-06/270Win range.

Run either 30-06 or 35 Whelen brass through a 338-06 die and load away.

The '98 Mauser has been chambered to everything from 222 to 458 win Mag.....If it was made right then it sure as heck will handle the 338-06!
