Why not use Winchester data on loading with 540, and just Hodgdon data for the HS6 powder. I say this because you cannot use Caddilac parts in a Hundai. Common sense should prevail...I hope. A44and45

Because I can't find the WW-540 data in any of my reloading manuals. It's an older powder, and is no longer sold. And someone told me that the 540 is now sold as HS-6,and since Hodgen doesn't manufacture there own powder, this is why I asked.

GregBullet: I found an older Winchester reloaders manual with the info you need. Here goes: With 150grJHP--8.7-10.6grs 1105-1330fps With 170grJHP--8.7-9.9grs 1105-1265fps With 180grJHP--8.0-9.3grs 1040-1190fps With 200gr FMJ--7.5-8.6grs 960-1090fps Hope this helps, By the way, I wouldn't try to use another powders data no matter who told you. Remember that is a potential bomb in your hand. This data came from Winchester manual 15th edition for the 10mm Auto cartridge. Good luck!

http://www.hodgdon.com/smokeless/shotpist.php HS-6 is identical to Winchester's discontinued 540. I copied this right from Hodgdon's web page.

from shooting retailer aug. 2002= Hodgdon is offering a replacement powder for discontinued winchester powder products. Retailers with customers clamoring for certain discontinued winchester powders will be interested to know that since winchester discontinued its 540 and 571 powders from its line, hodgdon powder co. offers the alternative, HS-6 and HS-7, which are the same powders. Olin manufactured the powders for winchester and hodgdon. While the two firms gave them different names, the loading data is identical. (NOTE: USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK.)
