Well that sounds like as good a load as any and about what I used for years, and that velocity works better on buffalo and large animals as well or better than those hot 2600 fps plus velocity that are very easy to obtain with handloads, but they tend to hamper penetration by oversize expansion, in my tests on dug out bullets, depending on your point of view..some like the bullet to stop on the off side skin and big expansion from fast bullets is the cause, less expansion give two holes and better blood trails if needed and its still very effective..

Thats what I used mostly in my double 450-400-3" and my 3.25" also..I tested them for Mike back in the day and reported the results etc to him on his form..NOrth forks are self cloning, they all look alike even when tortured on heavy bone, just one nice mushroom after another.. I probably shot 30 or 40 large animals, mostly buffalo, but Hippo, Eland, Sable, Gemsbok, and others with those Northfork .411 bullets and that many more with the 375 H&H and 9.3x62..Mike just kept me in bullets for several years..No better bullet for game out there..

71 grs of R-15 equals ~2550 for me.

Start at 69 and work up.

Yes Sir, thats the ticket!! A North Fork, Nosler partition or a Woodleigh at that velocity with that powder just plain works..71 gr. od RL-15, and some guns like 72 for just a tad better accuracy. but so what? I went with 71 in both my Ruger and my H&H..
