Have some of these bullets to try.
Im using H414 in my BARII semi .270 so I will stick with that at the moment.
Q. I have heard that you should use 130-140 gn loading data to start of these 120gn Barnes bullet loads. For a number of reasons.

Ever tried any in the .270? Any ideas...

Got an email from the people at Branes
===================
The load data for the 270 Win that I have, suggests
using a 120gr X Bullet with a minimum charge of H414 of 53.0grs at 3011fps
and a maximum charge of 57.0grs at 3238fps. The BAR will likely shoot best
in the middle of the two charges. Enjoy!!

No experience with the 120gr X, but a bit with the 130gr XLC and 140 X-bt in my 270 Win. Try several different powders if you can, as these bullets appear to have a narrow sweet spot. RL19 and IMR4350 would not shoot either of these bullets very well, but, H4831 (full charge only)very good. This morning, my 30-06 did good with RL19 and the 180gr XLC-bt, but not with IMR4350, H4831 or H1000. Their on game performance is excellent.

RESULTS

I would have posted a picture of my results with the 120gn Barnes X bullet BUT... It would not fit on the average srceen.

The best group was 3". The worst was not even worth measuring. (About 12"!!!)

Very disapointed. Tried H414 and AR2209 to date. Loathed to try other powders, these things may as well be made of gold the cost that much to buy.

Next...

H-414 From 49.0 grains to 57.0 grains
Winchester WLR Primer

but you might find:
H-4831 From 58.0 grains to 62.0 grains
Winchester WLR Primer
a better choice.

I've shot them a bit in my 270-using IMR 4350 and R22 they will shoot quite well.

Lately I've been shooting their new Triple Shok and I have been getting excellent accuracy and speed using R22.

I've had good luck with 200 gr Barnes X in my A-Bolt w/ 26" bbl., but Ive read that luck with BX is either good or bad and little in between.

i've had good luck with the 120 xbt bullet out of a 7mm RM. I've never shot anything but paper with them though. i will be using them on whitetail tomorrow morning if i see one. i have found you start with the barnes recommended bullet seating of .050 of the lands. then you work on the seating depth from there. i found my sweet spot at .020 from the lands. this is the load i will be shooting.

7mm RM rem case
71.5 grs. RL22
WLR primer
120 XBT
chonographed at 3486 fps @ 10 ft from muzzle
group average .950
