I use 50 gr H4895 With a Hornady 165 interlock that comes out the tube on my SS abolt at 2690 fps. It don't hardly kick and hits right with my heavier load of 70 gr of RL19 with the same bullet at 200 yards. Total group of 6 bullets was 1.5 inches. 3 of each load. You can also use less H4895 if you want, but this was the most accurate in my gun. I also have a load that uses 180's and magpro at 3000 fps if I really want a beating. It ain't needed though on deer.

Hodgdon lists youth loads on their website. They also state that any load they list with H4895 can be reduced to 60% of max safely. Give 'em a try. Personally, I found 54 grains of H4895 and Nosler 165 BT's to be both very effective (4 deer in 2 seasons, only 3 steps taken among the lot) and about like a .308 in recoil...quite reasonable. Remember that reduced loads means reduced range, so accuracy of 2"+ can still be quite effective (don't waste a whole lot of time trying to find a tack driving load). Good luck!
