Hey guys,

What are the max SAAMI pressures for the 348 win? I was thinking of putting together a martini sporter in 338-303 epps but got to looking at the 348 and wondered if it would be a good caliber for the project.

According to Pet loads by Ken Waters the 348 max is 44,000 psi

Quickload thinks it is 46,412 psi. That's probably a Quickload conversion of a CUP spec because psi specs usually round off to the nearest 500 psi. I read that to mean that there is no SAAMI psi spec.

Hornady #26 shows a maximum load of 33,500 CUP, which is equal to 32,884 psi using the Bramwell conversion formula.

As far as I know, the 348 case is not weak so the pressure limitation is likely due to the lever action that it was originally chambered for.

Thanks guys. Looks like it would work because it is in the same range as the .303.

Not sure what route ill take because 303 brass is alot cheaper than 348 win, and easier to find here. It would be nice to have a factory cartridge though.
