I just started reloading a few months ago, and am still learning the tricks. I've got some GI magazines for the AR-15 that won't accept the bullet OAL of 2.260. I had to go down to 2.245. Is this normal?

I`m sure others here are much more knowagable on this then me, but when you are loading for a 5.56 or 7.62 Nato there are minor differences in the cartridge compared to the commercial versions. The COL may well be one of them.

Sometimes it's the magazine, and sometimes it's the ammunition. Good practice with loading for your own AR is to load -.010 below the doesn't fit length.
