Hi all, sorry to be a scrounger, but I would appreciate it if someone would run a load through QL for me and let me know what the projected pressure and MV would be.

It's 6.1 gr of Trail Boss in a RP case with a 250gr RNFP plated cast bullet in 45 Colt.

I USED to shoot this for Cowboy action in my Blackhawk and a Rossi LA (looks like a Win 92).

Now I have a pair of SASS Vaqueros and would rather NOT turn them into hand grenades (at least not while I'm holding them. Max is 5.8 according to the ADI load sheet.

Thanks in advance.

Trail Boss is not in my copy of QL Looking at the Hodgdon sight they show 5.8 as the max with a 250.

As usual just my $.02

Ramrod, you need to upgrade your QL software. Smiler

QL doesn't predicted straight walled cases like the 45 Colt well. At 6.1 grains of Trailboss QL thinks it's safe but I don't trust it's prediction. It may or may not be safe, It's your call. I would trust published data over QL on this one. QL is a wonderful program but it's not infallible

Used the contact link to ask if they had an update. Everything I use is on 3.6 so I'm sure not buying new $152 software. Now a few $$ for updates I'd probably do.

Thanks all.

As I pointed out I was using it in a Blackhawk and a Rossi.

Now I jhave 2 new Vaqueros - just wanted to know what the pressure might have been.

According to the ADI website pressure is 13,100 with the max load of 5.8 and I was wondering just what the difference might have been.

Probably load down a bit, though - I loaded some at 5.6 grains and one Vaquero thinks it's great, the other has sticky extraction , which might be rough chamber walls I suppose, but more to look at.

Sorry, we were not much help but I think you’re doing the prudent thing and reducing your load. I shoot Trailboss in my 45 colt SAA (Colt knock off) and like the performance it gives.

Would have liked to get a solid 700 fps out of them, because IIRC that's what the old model P did in 1873 (maybe from a 7 1/2 in barrel, though.

I could also go the coward's way and load 200grainers and such, but I've got close to 2,000 bullets here, so no can do.

Thanks again to all.
