I have not been reloading for very long, but I always prep my new brass which includes unforming and deburring primer pocket and flash holes ect...after shooting I clean my brass and yes I clean my pockets.
I even clean my pants pockets, if not the wife gets all my coins and loose bills.

If you put enough rounds down range the enemy is bound to run in to one sooner or later.

I used to do it, but it made no noticible differense in accuracy in any caliber, so I blew it off.

With a couple of rifles, my loads shoot less than half MOA, so why take the trouble?

I've noticed no difference in accuracy but in my .45acp I notice difficulty in seating the primer fully unless I clean the pockets and I'm loading on a single stage press so I clean them.

Even my spell checker wants to replace Obama, it just doesn't have any suggestions.

I did for many years. I'm tired of endlessly detailing brass, so I stopped and compared the results shooting rifles of proven high accuracy. I can't tell any difference, except I don't spend as much time monkeying around at the bench.

You have folks that reload to shoot and folks that shoot to reload.
Other than the holier-than-thou attitude of some of the super anal, I don't have a problem with anyone detailing their brass to a gnat's ass if it pleases them; it's just not my cup of tea and doesn't fit in with my "rock and a rusty nail" style of reloading. Big Grin

I ocasionally find media in the primer hole.
I clean with a round tooth-pick. Just the right size and doesn't harm the brass.

For rifle rounds I dont skip any steps.

However in looking at the new Dillon install I can see where it would be nice to not have to clean the primer poskets for the pistol rounds especially. Just insert em, size, decap, prime, and load. I will have to see for the pistol rounds but I am going to try a few not cleaned and see how they do.

It wont take but about 1 misfire to make me do it the hard way though.

I've fired a few thousand rounds through my .45 acp loaded with a dillon and no primer pocket cleaning. No problems yet.

I true up my primer pockets first with a Sinclair tool. This provides a uniform size and depth. Also squares the primer pocket. Once that's done (only need to be done once) I use my Lyman tool to keep the carbon out. I feel all small touches lead to greater uniformity and when all the little touches are done, they all add up to better loads. Can I categorically state it makes a huge difference. Probably not (categorically that is LoL) but I believe it all contributes to better handloads therefore I'll keep doing it till someone proves me wrong.
