| I use the same loads as for my 24 inch barrel. The short barreled 20 inch ones (M38), kick and do have a bit of muzzle flash, which I like. |

| I have some of that; the more muzzle flash the better as it impresses the natives. |

OK, no problem. Just tell me bullet length and COAL or a seating depth. It is important for proper QuickLoad setting. Jiri |

| Run it through QuickLoad:
For best combination of muzzle velocity and 100 % gun powder burnt in the barrel (highest efficiency, no or very low muzzle flash), Alliant Reloader 17 is the winner. Also known as Eicho 17 or Reload Swiss 60.
I suggest to start with 49 grain and go up, to 53, maybe more, while keeping all known reloading safety procedures (checking primers, bolt thrust, inspecting necks etc.). It is very important always, but especially when reloading for old used roughly made rifles with loose chambers. Exact charge depends on many factors, rifle/chamber, twist, barrel, brass, primers, bullet/jacket hardness etc.

| Thanks for your time and effort on this Jiri, I really appreciate it. The rifle is actually an un-issued Westinghouse that the previous owner shortened but never fired. The stock was unfortunately butchered also so I made a new sporter stock. ( Sporterised military rifle forum ) Thanks again, Roger |
