I offer this only because while working up a load for this bullet, I found little to go on. DO NOT use this data as a starting point. Just sharing my experience thus far with this bullet.

Started with a pressure check from 54-59gr of H4350 (I chose this powder bc it shoots well out of my rifle with other bullets). No signs of pressure up to 59gr. I then loaded four groups of three at differing seating depths - .09, .07, .05, .03 off the lands. The following were my results today.

Rifle: Sako FinnBear chambered in .30-06
Bullet: Barnes .308 168gr Triple Shock X Bullet
Case: Fire-formed Lapua
Primer: Federal 210M
Powder 58gr H4350

3X100yrd bench

.09" off the lands = 1.5"
.07" off the lands = 1.2"
.05" off the lands = 0.67"
.03" off the lands = 1.25"

As Barnes recommended .05 seems to be the sweet spot. I have yet to shoot this load over my chrony, but data suggests I should be around 2850fps. I was most impressed with cleanup after this session. Contrary to past experience with Barnes X bullets, I found no more copper fouling in my bore than typical of Hornady Interbonds (my previous favorite).

I won't be able to make my regular Thurs morning at the range next week, but the week after I will have some .05" 58gr loads ready for furhter testing. I'm confident they will shoot a five shot group similar to the 3 shot group today (the first two were ragged holes and the third I felt myself pull a bit).

I'm not ready to get rid of the Interbonds on my shelf, but I am most impressed with my limited experience with this bullet.

Now to put it through some flesh....

NimrodRx,

Your experience, closely parallels mine with
the 168 gr. TSX, in 300 WSM, 100 gr. TSX,
in .25-06 Rem, and 130 gr. TSX, in .308 Win.
Wait until you see the "on game" performance!
The 130 gr. TSX, out of a .308 Win, which I
shoot out of my Browning BAR, and my Savage
Striker, leaves evidence of SERIOUS energy
transfer, and penetration, on the northern
Whitetails. Two more memorable hits were one
field dressed 150 lb doe that was a BANG FLIP,
and one 3 year old buck that was a BANG,
STAGGER, FLOP. Both looked liked a bone frag
grenade went off in the chest. After the first
autopsy, of a TSX bullet hit, I switched all of
my hunting ammo, for all of my rifles over to
TSX loads. To date, I have had nothing but
WICKED wound channels.

I have not seen excessive copper fouling,
with these bullets, either. I will add that
in every one of the rifles I have worked TSX
loads for, all preferred the bullets
.050" +/- .010 off the lands. I am so confident
that the "sweet" spot is near .050", that now
my load development starts with a COL
.050", with +/- .005" steps, off of .050", for
all new TSX load work.

Got back to the range today and took along the chrony. This load averaged 2820 fps for me. I shot three rounds at 100yrds and three at 200yrds. The 100yrd group measured .48. The 200yrd group, 2.6. Looks like I've got to do a heck of a lot more shooting at 200yrds....
