I am going to start reloading for a 25.06. What have you guys had good sucess with for a place to start. It is going to be used for Whitetails so I need at least 100gr's. I was thinking along the lines of the 110 accubond. What other bullet and powder suggestions would you think would be worth a try? Thanks, Charlie A man should never stop learning, so a man should never stop asking questions

I use the 110 gr Accubonds and Ballistic tips. They have worked well for me on whitetails. I got the best results with H1000.

Hornady's 120 hollow point has been a very good bullet for me. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I've Only owned 2 25-06s and I've only been hunting w/ the cartridge for two seasons. In that limited experience both rifles shot the 115 grn NBT well w/ IMR 7828 and I've shot two deer w/ those bullets. Both deer were shoulder shot and full penetration was achieved. The 110 ABs have about the same profile as the 115 NBTs but, some say they can't achieve the same accuracy w/ the AB. I've got some of the ABs, just haven't had the time to test them. I agree with Reloader - the 115 gr. Nosler partition and IMR-7828 is a great combination. I use 54.5/IMR-7828, Rem. brass, and a Fed. 215 primer. This is a maximum load in my rifle, so start a little lower. It has worked great on at least a dozen antelope, several deer, 2 elk, and some coyotes. I think the rifle is generally too small for elk, but these were both 1-shot kills. This load is my favorite load for my Rem. 700 Classic. It has worked well in at least three other .25-06s owned by friends.

Powder: H4831. I got a 0.93" 5 shot group at 300 yards..forget how much as I don't have the rifle anymore, nor shoot a .25-06. Best Regards, Tom

I'd be for working with these 3, one of them should perk quite well. R22 7828 H4831 Good luck Mark D

I have good results with the 100gr. Sierra Gameking with about 52-53gr of IMR 4350 for deer, not real expensive but good performance, also just the plain ole Remington Pointed Soft Point is also a great performer.

110 AccuBond worked perfect on the 3pt to 8pt (depending on where ya live) whitetail. It created a wound channel that did the job needed for a clean dispatch. It is sitting on top of a load of H4831. I haven't completely come to a "perfect" load with powder and primer combo yet but I plan on staying with the 110grn AccuBond. Most 25-06 rifles are pretty easy to please. They seem to shoot well with any reasonable combination of powder and bullet. I shoot one a lot, mine is on its second barrel. My favorite load is a Remington case, Fed 210 primer, 54 grains of IMR 4831, and a Nosler 100 grain Partition. I just shot some of that load this week, just to check point of impact, going hog hunting soon. A three shot group of that load measured an even half inch. Good enough, I think, especially since the bullets were seconds I picked up from Nosler. I have not tried the Accubonds in this rifle. I have had mixed results with the Accubonds in several other calibers. Having said that, my buddy routinely shoots them in both, a .257 Wby Mag and a 25 WSSM. R Flowers

I have been using two bullets in mine lately. The 117gr Hornady SST and the Barnes 115gr. XLC. The Hornady bullets were seconds and I've not achieved the accuracy I wanted. The Barnes XLC I got on a "inventory reduction sale". They shoot so well I wish I'd have gotten more! I picked up several boxes but don't see them listed any more. They may have been discontinued. A friend of mine used the Sierra 120gr HPBT exclusively. I have used it in my .257 Roberts as well. It does seem to be one of the best bullets for this caliber. Because of this, I'd recommend trying it first, pushed with H4831 and go from there. I have tried Retumbo, IMR 7828, RL22, and H4831. My .25-06 load is the 115 gr. Barnes XLC, RL22, WLR primer, Win cases. It shoots very well, and I used it to take a very nice buck this fall with great results. Nate
