I just purchased a new 7mm Remington Ultra Mag rifle. After nearly throwing up at the cost of new ammo, I'm considering reloading, but have no experience in this area. Can you help me with the following questions?
1) Is there any "bible" on reloading, i.e. documentation presenting an intelligent guide to reloading and safety? (PDF type files via the internet preferred...)
2) Are there any sources for the tooling necessary to reload this relatively new cartridge? How about sources for brass? Is the brass the only piece that would be unique to reloading this cartridge?
3) Any internet sources you know of for purchasing new and/or reloaded 7mm UM at a reasonable discount off retail shops?
I think the best place to start looking for information would be a very basic book such as that offered by Lyman. Buy one and read it cover to cover, this will give you a good idea of what you need and how to reload.
A forum like this will fill in a lot of the questions you may have about some of the stuff.
Brass should be avaiable at a good price through on e of the mail order houses and load data will become more plentiful as time goes on.

Of the books I have, I would recommend Lyman's 47th Edition Reloading Handbook and/or Metallic Cartridge Reloading 3rd Edition by M.L. McPherson. I don't know of any .pdf files that even begin to go into all the things you need to read, but perhaps someone else on this forum does.

See web links below. The brass and dies will be unique to that cartridge. All other tools that you would need to buy can be used for other calibers except the shell holder, which you can only use on certain cartridges. For instance, a shellholder for the .7mmRUM can also be used on a .300RUM, .338RUM and 455 Webley. That's it (I think).

Yea, I just saw that you can use a #38 or a #4. Didn't know that. Of course if I owned a gun in one of these calibers, I would probably pay a little more attention.
