Just interested in what velocity and bullets weights are people using/getting in 20" 9.3x62 rifles, are you giving up that much over 23" to 24" barrels.

PC, I think the 9.3x62 may be one of those cartridges where a little shorter barrel isn't going to make that big of a difference. The 286 gr. bullet at 2250-2350 fps is a proven killer on all game. Having that shorter barrel may be a real advantage in the type of country where this rifle is at it's best. Jrslate, thaks for your insight my friend and I have been looking at the CZ battue 9.3x62 with a 20" barrel we looked at the full stock as well but the battue would be easier to look after. We thought the battue would make a really good pig rifle have you had much experience with battue sighted rifles ?? could a scope be mounted or would the battue ramp get in the way ??

Hoffman and I were talking about this short barrel stuff the other day and about decided that 6" of extra barrel sure didn't hurt a thing and neither one of us had ever been in a situation where that hanging bush or grapvine ever was at the exact 26" lenth to ruin or interfere with a shot....I would rather have the extra eye releif and better off hand shooting balance of the longer barrels. George allows 25 is perfect and I will go with 26"'s...but 24 is OK with both of us. I like the little extra 100 or so FPS velocity that you get in some calibers like the 9.3x62.. That is only our choices and applies to nothing more than that..
