I just read a warning put out by Alliant powder(in American Rifleman) saying Blue Dot shouldn't be used in 357 mag loads w/125gr bullets or ANY 41 mag loads. I called and left a msg at Alliant but was wondering if anyone knew anything about this.

I have seen the same warning. You can go to their website and get the info - what there is of it. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

The warning is also on Alliant's webpage. Thanks for the heads up! If they get back to you with any additional info, please let us know. Thanks! Joe Lt. Robert J. Dole, 10th Mountain, Italy.

Is it a problem only when using 125 grain bullets? I've been reloading my .357 with larger bullets without any problems. I need to check into this further. Thanks for the post. Red C. Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Still no response. It makes no sense that this powder will not work in one caliber or in one bullet weight. I'll post if I hear anything from them.

As it is with H110 it might be with Blue Dot and loads in wheel guns. If the pressure and temperature are too low as the bullet leaves the cylinder and enters the barrel All the low pressure gas escapes between the cylinder and the barrel along with unburned powder, and the bullet stays in the barrel. Personal experience. In fact before I realized what happened I had two bullets stuck in the barrel. Still a little shakey when I remember it . Just an Oh maybe.roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

Blue Dot is a flake powder, H110 is a ball. Totally different types and burning speeds; you won't see the same problems keeping Blue Dot burning that you can see with H110 in magnum pistol loads.
