A buddy gave me several rounds of 7.62 ball ammo with the headstamp "LC 71". And, a few rounds of "WCC 85 SLAP (AP sabot) rounds. My question: Do either of these rounds have corrosive primers? I would think not but rather error on the safe side. Also, does anyone know when or what year Uncle Sam converted to strictly non-corrosive primers for mil-spec ammo? Thanks Success is 99% determination.

US converted to non corrosive primers right after WWII, or thereabouts. Anything in .308 would be non=corrosive. There might be exceptions for other than US manufacture. Hubert

US military 30-06, 45ACP and 50BMG can be considered non-corrosive if it was produced after 1956/7. The 30Carb and 7.62x51 were never produced with corrosive primers.
