Well folks, I know I have a boatload of H4350 somewhere. Just can't seem to put my hands on it right now. I am loading for the .375 H&H. The bullets I have are NorthFork 250softies, Speer 235softies and 300grFailSafes. The powders I have on the shelf are AA2230, AA2460, H335, H870, and IMR3031. Suggested starting loads with what I have ? It has come to my attention that H870 is no longer available, but that compressed loads seem to do OK in .375--no data given though.

I am pretty well tapped out for the next month or so and will not be able to buy any powders. I have tried repeatedly to get information by Email and by leaving phone messages with Hodgdon. Could it be that they have lawyered up and no longer give information? I remember when I was loading many years ago-back in the '90s, if I had other powders on the shelf and wanted info that powder companies and bullet mfgs were all too helpful in providing info. All I had to do was make a quick phone call. Not any more.

Thank You Nordic2!

That is a fantastic Page!

I guess H870 is just too slow to be useful.

Anyone else........

I looked in an old Hodgdon manual as I also have some H870 I plan to use up in my 25-06. My notes indicate I was getting 1/2 groups with some bullets at 2900+. The only 375s using H870 was a Weatherby 378 with a max of 120 grains with a heavy bullet. Also, I called Hodgdon just a few weeks ago about IMR 4007 and a 150grain Hornady bullet. They list a Nosler BT which is much longer and restricts the amount of powder when the OAL is 2.8 inches or less. The max load had a very load pressure listed. I noticed that 180 grain bullet had a max load that was 2 grains more that the 150. They said I could use more powder but work up my loads. I used the 155 grain bullet load as I max load. It was 3 grains more than the 150 load but it still did not produce speeds equal to other powders like Varget. Give Hodgdon another call but I think your 375 wants a faster powder.

Barry,

I have indeed read your PM. One of the problems with two of the powders I have abundance of is the H870 is no longer available. I have read that compressed loads of this powder give satisfactory results, but no actual data was provided. There is a moderator here on another forum that loves and recommends H335 for use in big bore rifles. I haven't been able to contact him lately. I do not have Quick Load or any program like it. I was hoping to find info here. I just gotta find it.........

I am guessing my H4350 is in my climate controlled storage as I cannot find it in house or garage.

H4350 not in storage. Must have used it all. Damn! Maybe I can find someone local that wants to trade powders. I remember what I bought the H870 for...7STW.
