Recently picked up a Ruger No.1 rebarreled to 50/100Win.
What are the possible loads and limitations with this combo?

I would love to work with a gun like this. Think 500 Nitro. Use Starline brass. Use some good cast bullets for fun.

50-110 maybe? The case should be about 2.40" long. I have a clone 1886 and once upon a time Winchester had a HV (high vel) 350gr load with smokeless that ran close to 2000fps.

My last No 1 was a 50-110 with Badger bbl. I found that lighter loads with 300-gr bullets & 3031 & RL7 didn't give good ignition or good accuracy, I had to really load it up to respectable pressures to get any accuracy from the 300-grainers. 450-grainers were not quite so bad but still needed a STOUT load for accuracy. Recoil was a factor since the most accurate loads also seemed to be the top ones. Didn't try any of the heavier 650-gr bullets though.
Regards, Joe
