Just bought a Sako heavy barrel single shot. It came with about 50 cases, headstamp says Sako 6PPC USA. They don't look to be neck turned. Where does one find brass for this? Thanks, Al

Al, you find it in a gun store that doesn't sell much, cause it's been d.c.'d. You can make PPC brass from Lapua 220 Russian brass, easy. May or may not have to turn the neck. Most everyone carries the 220 russian brass on line. Have fun. Dutch.

If this is a factory Sako gun in 6PPC it will have a 6PPC USA chamber which means it doesn't need all the work on the ammo like the tight necked bench guns. About the only neck turning I would reccomend would be a clean up cut if needed but I haven't found it necessary with my Sako Varmint. Just get some 6PPC USA dies a load them up. I have gotten some great results from mine with both Sierra 70 HPBT match bullets (what the Sako factory ammo is loaded with) and botht he 70 & 55 grain Nosler Ballisitc Tips.

Intel, true, as long as you are using the Sako or Norma brass. With the Lapua 220 Russian brass, the neck tolerance is quite close, and should be checked. My loaded Lapua measures a bit over .270 on some, and .270 is the Saami speck on the 6ppc usa neck. Ditto for the reformed WW 7.62x39 brass. The Norma brass measures nearly 7 hundreds smaller. Al - My experience with 6PPC Sako brass is much the same as Intel6. Every once in a while you can find the unloaded brass, but more often than not, I purchase factory loaded ammo. It is not much more expensive than unloaded brass and it is very accurate. Check with your local shops for brass/ammo. I now understand that Beretta is now the importer for Sako - product info can be had at 800 528-7453. Also check for a dealer near you at http://www.sako.fi/dealers.html I shoot both the 70gr Sierra and Berger bullets in my gun. Both perform single hole groups @ 100 yards. The 6PPC is a great short and medium yard varmint gun. [This message has been edited by Zero Drift (edited 01-12-2002).]
