BOOM Actually this is today's Range Report.
  • 22-250, nny cases( Bosnian),#34 primers, oal=2.460, SR 7625 powder.
  • 1. 11grs., 55gr. Varmint Nite Mare, 2009 to 2059 fps., 4 shots 1/2" group @ 50 yd.Mild
  • 2. 11gr., 55gr Nite Mare Extreme, mild, very little soot, 1920 to 2019 fps.5 shot 1/8" group @ 50yd., Totally unbelieveable.
  • 3. 11.5 gr., 55gr.VNM., mild, clean, 2052 to 2103 fps. 5 shot 1" group @ 50 yd. @ flyers.
  • 4. 11.5gr. %5gr. VNMX., mild, clean, 2032 to 2051 fps., 3 shot 1/4" group and 4 shot 1/2" at 50 yd.
  • 5. 12gr. 55gr VNM mild, clean, 2124 to 2215 fps. 3 shot 5/8" group and a 3 shot 3/8" group @ 50 yd.
  • 6. 12gr. 55gr VNMX., mild ,clean ,2064 to 2159 fps., 5 shot 3/4" group @ 50yd.

  • 41.5 gr. Dp85, 55gr. VNMX., mild ,clean, 3533 to 3656fps. 4 shot 1/4" group, 5 shot 3/4" group. Errant 5th shot exhibited lead colored comet tail. looks close to max.

  • 55gr. VNM., 36gr. DP74, RP cases, 215 primer, crimped in cannelure, clean 3599 to 3663 fps. 6 shot 1" group @ 50 yd.

  • 52gr. FBHP Berger., 37.1gr. DP74, RP cases, 215 primers, oal=2.505", 3870 fps. POPPED primer, pulling bullets.

  • DP 74 That I have, again seems to be faster burning than the supplied data would indicate. It is suppose to be safe with 3% more powder than Accurate 2520. Might be the combination of components but I thought I'd pass on this info anyway.

The SR 7625 looks to be doing very well for reduced loading as does the Varmint Nite Mare Extremes. The comet tails at high velocity may prove to be a concern???? sofaroger

Hey Roger, What is the difference between the Extreme and Standard bullet?

    Excellent shooting on your part.

Somewhat different shape. The VMN has a cannelure the VNMX does not. Just the names that Mid South chose to give each bullet. I'll try to check out the VNMX in one of the .223s next week. The comet tail at higher velocity has me curious. beerroger

Hey Roger, Would you think that rolling the Cannelure onto the Bullet deformed them enough to make the difference?

How `bout it VapoDog, didn't you used to work where they make these?

I think that is possible but I really don't think, from the shape, that it was made on the same tooling. archerroger
