Which brush is best for your barrel? Also, which bore cleaners work the best?

Wipe out, usually no brush needed. ------------------------------------ The trouble with the Internet is that it's replacing masturbation as a leisure activity. ~Patrick Murray "Why shouldn`t truth be stranger then fiction? Use a Nylon brush if you are going to use a heavy copper solvent as they will eat a Bronze brush. And yes, Wipe Out works wonders. If you still have a bunch of Sweets, Montana Extreme etc like I do, use that Nylon brush. Aaron

I use nothing but nylon brushes. I use Shooter's Choice and Hoppe's #9 for normal maintenance. Every now and then, if a barrel needs a particularly good cleaning, or for a bad fouler, I use Sweets.

Wipe Out question: will it damage teflon finished guns?

Nylon, or you'll never get a clean patch and know when the barrel is clean, the brush will turn the patch blue as it eats the brush up.. No Wipe out will not bother Teflon, but I wouldn't leave it on any surface very long or any other cleaner for that matter. Guys, a nylon brush just won't clean our BR barrels. We clean every 8-15 rounds. We use good quality brass brushes. It will not hurt a barrel! I use Wipeout, patch it out, brush with my home made solvent and patch out. I have a bore scope and watch my barrels very closely. Sweets, Isso, and JB paste will not hurt a barrel. A dirty cleaning rod and a poor or no bore guide kills more barrels in cleaning than any other reason. Butch

Wipe-out won't hurt Teflon but in case you didn't know it will mar a lot of wood finishes. Keep it off a wood stock. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I have a way of minimizing the mess with Wipe Out, and never get any in the action or on the wood. I have taken a cartrige case for each rifle deprimed it and drilled thru the primer hole with a 15/64 drill then shove a piece of 1/4" plastic tubing "like they use for icemakers" thru the case to just come out the mouth. Then use a piece of 1/4"IDx3/8"OD tubing to couple the tube to the Wipe Out can. That way you inject the stuff from the breach and the waste comes out the muzzel. BTW th 3/8x1/4 tube is just right for a 375, just shove it up thru the chamber and connect to the can. Some of them like the 6mm I used a piece of steel brake line and turned the end down enough to fit in the case neck and left it stick out the back enough to attach the 1/4"id hose. I also soldered it in the primer end. there are a number of ways to do it, just experiment. Lyle "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. WOW! Very nice. I love wipeout but have not thought of this idea to solve it's one drawback. I did add a 1/4 inch piece of tubing to the nozzle that fits snugly in a couple of my bore guides, but this is a very good idea. THANKS! Oh, I use bronze brushes on the odd occasion that I need to brush. The two most abundant elements in the universe are Hydrogen and Stupidity
