JUST WONDERING .458WM
Just wondering if anyone has tried fireforming other brass to .458 WM. Say .338WM to .458.

How did it work out? Satisfied?

I form a lot of brass and was just wondering!

Most guys who shoot .458 Lott fire-formed theirs from .375H&H.
If it works in a Lott I don't see any reason it wouldn't in a WM?

I figured that there wouldn't be a problem but never heard/read of anyone doing it.

I got a buddy that doesn't buy actual 458 brass he just makes it from range pickups.

I haven't, but it seems like an fun way to make weird noises and lots of smoke on the range -- might be fun, certainly is dangerous

If it's new brass it usually works good to fireform. If it's once fired it will usually split if you are going way up in caliber unless you annealthe once fired brass .I usually just resize mine but with powder and primers so High its about a must to resize .375 hh brass would work prefect trimmed .I tried to use 3030 brass to make 375 win but it split alot .You can try and see just watch for splits in once fired brass .

I've made .375 Win. outa .30-30 with no problem (anneal first) and .375 AI outa .300 H&H. Was just wondering due to the fact some calibers of brass are a lot more money just due to the caliber. An example look at the price of .7mmRM compared to .338 WM. Basically just a larger diameter neck.
