Anyone figured out any load data for Hornady 270 gr ELD-X bullets. Thinking it should be a good long range bullet. Lapua is already loaded with it. I think the win mag would work. Balistic program from Hornady shows if can pull 2400 fps would still be about 1300 at a 1000. With only 35"down with zero at 200yds. Thinking H4831 or R19. Just curious if anyone has tried them yet

Would that very long bullet even stabilize at the .338 WinMag’s velocity? I have doubts. The Lapua pushes it to 2850-2900 fps, well in excess of what the little .338 might manage. .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...onforming_cartridges Loaded with more aerodynamic very-low-drag bullets such as the traditionally lead cored 19.44 g (300.0 gr) Lapua Scenar GB528 VLD bullet (G1 BC = 0.736) or the Lost River Ballistics J40 .338 17.5 gram (270 gr) CNC manufactured mono-metal bullet (G1 BC = 0.871) the long-range performance and supersonic range of .338 Lapua Magnum rifles can be improved. These longer very-low-drag bullets require a 254 mm (1 in 10 inch) twist rate to stabilize them. ************* Degenerate 1:1 1 Then Trump said, "Let Us re-make a Nation in MY Image, after My likeness, to rule over everything in the Nation, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it". 2500 to 2600 fps muzzle speed should be safely doable for the 270gr ELD-X in the .338 WM. I load the Nosler 265gr AB LR (0.732 G1 b.c.) conservatively at 2600 fps. According to this calculator the 270gr ELD-X is stabilized by the typical .338 WM 1:10 twist - http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/

The model says yes, but who has shot out to 1000 yards to prove it? .

The 300 Nosler accubond is used in the 338 Win mag. Nosler data shows it to be able to reach 2400. I would not be surprised for the 270 Eld x to hit 2500. R17 or R26 maybe. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!
